During the first week of December it has placed in Almendralejo some fairs about Extremadura gastronomy, the wines, the licuors, and olives of Almendralejo...and it is called Gastronomic Week that since 2001 comes taking place in that city and growing up since then. THe last edition was the most complete and it has special importance due to its contribution to the promotion of the city, The main goals of this fair are, to develop the main actions of the tourism of Almendralejo, based on its olives, wines, liquors and gastronomy,  moreover to promote the city in differents frameworks and forums. With the desire of increase the economic and cultural development and making efforts to streghten the  cultural gastronomy, wine culture and olives culture. thanks to this market was created that fair.

The main acts and events that are developed in that week consists on lectures where gastronomic professionals display their knowledge and debate with the public about our cuisine, these talks are complemented by the introduction of new products of the year in a ceremony that takes place in Wine and Olives Pavilion. Moreover are also conducted some open doors days at wineries, distilleries and olives companies for the public to know the operation and the work carried out in these companies, also they offer the "tasting menus" in which restaurants interested in participating submit a tasting menu based on the cuisine of Extremadura, which include wine, olives and spirits Almendralejo and all at an affordable price, not to mention "The route from the top" in which the bars and cafes put a fixed price for a wine and a tapa to bring participants in.

In our rich cuisine, we count with dishes such as migas, land of mud, Extremadura stew, tomato soup with grapes, Extremadura suckling pig with black olives, sautéed mushrooms, roasted broth, rice with rabbit, potatoes with trotters pork tripe, the warm salad of cod and trout Extremadura, etc..

Almendralejo is home to the denomination of origin Ribera del Guadiana and has an important wine industry with over forty brands on the market. In the field of olive, many industries, after a careful selection, a procedure pampered and careful dressing and packaging technology, brought to market varieties such as olives Manzanilla (dressed, packed in brine and black), Gordalillas (whole , broken or cracked with traditional dressing), Verdiales, lemon and Highland Peak.
